Our Approach

At Challenge Accepted Dog Training, our clients have four legs—and we take that responsibility seriously. Our Kansas City dog training and daycare team works hands-on with each dog, providing thoughtful, individualized care rooted in experience and genuine care.

Because we spend so much time with our dogs, we naturally get to know their people too. We build real relationships with pet parents and become a trusted part of their dog’s daily routine.

We’ve created a structured, supportive environment for dogs who do best with guidance, consistency, and clear expectations. The families we serve want more than supervision—they want their dogs to learn, improve, and feel comfortable at home and out in the world.

We use humane, science-based, reward-focused training methods that teach dogs what to do, without fear or force. We believe there are no bad dogs—just dogs who need clear communication and patient teaching.

Our team has put in the time to truly understand dogs, so you don’t have to. We’ll guide you in simple, practical ways that work in real life. From our Kansas City dog daycare to our training programs, everything we do is driven by care, professionalism, and the trust our families place in us.

Who We Are

Owners, Gardenia and Heidi, of Kansas City’s award-winning, leading, doggy daycare invite want you to know that your dog is never a number or just part of a head count. We embrace the expectations families have in how their dogs are cared for and most of all, treat your dogs like our own fur kiddos.

Taking care of your pup comes from our hearts and is exude through our commitment to them and their well-being. Using more than our experience, knowledge or skills- we use our own strengths of care, compassion, and love of not only dogs, but all animals that share this planet with us.

This isn’t just a business or a job for us—it’s a reflection of what we believe in, who we are, and how we want to be remembered.

Individualized

Every dog is treated as their own unique being — not a number in a crowd. With intentionally small group sizes (only 7–8 dogs at a time), Challenge Accepted Dog Training can truly see each dog’s personality, energy level, play style, social preferences, and emotional needs. Dogs are grouped thoughtfully based on compatibility, not just size or age, allowing them to build real friendships, feel safe, and thrive socially.

Expert-Led

With over 15 years of professional dog training and care experience, Gardenia, brings deep behavioral knowledge into daily daycare operations. Subtle body language cues — often missed by standard daycare staff — are recognized early, allowing proactive redirection, reinforcement, or separation before tension escalates. Positive reinforcement guides all interactions.

Balanced

Dogs don’t just run nonstop all day. They enjoy a healthy rhythm of structured play on a spacious third of an acre, followed by intentional rest time and enrichment activities that support mental stimulation and nervous system regulation. This prevents overstimulation, burnout, and behavioral stress.

Accessible

Conveniently located in South Kansas City — just minutes from Leawood, Overland Park, and the greater KC metro — with quick highway access and easy navigation (only two turns from the exit). It feels tucked away and calm while still being incredibly easy for busy pet parents to reach.

How We Put

Dogs First, Always

More Than Play. It’s Learning in Motion.

Play is important — but what happens within play matters even more. Every day includes intentional balance between movement, rest, enrichment, and emotional regulation. Dogs are supported in making good social choices, recovering from stimulation, and developing flexibility in how they respond to their environment.

The result? Dogs who aren’t just tired — they’re calmer, more confident, and better regulated at home too.

Where Dog Behavior Is Understood, Not Managed.

We don’t just supervise dogs — we read them. Our care is grounded in professional dog behavior knowledge and positive reinforcement training, allowing us to recognize subtle body language cues before issues escalate. This means we can step in to guide, redirect, reinforce, or support regulation in real time.

Dogs aren’t controlled here — they’re supported in learning healthy communication, emotional balance, and safer social skills.

Dogs aren’t managed here — they’re understood, supported, and guided.

At Challenge Accepted, every decision we make begins with what’s truly best for the dog. We provide small-group dog daycare in Kansas City, grounded in professional dog behavior knowledge and positive reinforcement training. By keeping capacity intentionally low, we’re able to deeply understand each dog’s personality, play style, social needs, and nervous system regulation — creating safer, calmer, more balanced experiences for every dog in our care.
